DECORATING TIPS
* A FOCAL POINT IN A ROOM USUALLY HAS A TALL VERTICAL ELEMENT, SUCH AS A FIREPLACE, CUPBOARD OR A ROW OF FRENCH DOORS.
* PAY ATTENTION TO THE BACKDROP: A GREAT WALLPAPER OR PAINT TECHNIQUE ADDS INSTANT STYLISHNESS TO A ROOM WITHOUT BREAKING THE BUDGET. TRY ADDING OR SWITCHING RUGS AROUND, ALSO.
* USE OLD OR NEW DOORKNOBS AS CURTAIN TIEBACKS. THEY CAN BE CRYSTAL, BRASS OR PORCELAIN. SMALLER GLASS KNOBS SCREWED INTO THE WALL TO BE USED FOR HANGING TOWELS IN THE KITCHEN.
* REPLACE DARK OR HEAVY BEDDING WITH A DUVET COVER OR CHENILLE BEDSPREAD. IF YOU HAVE A HEADBOARD THAT YOU'D LIKE TO SWITCH OUT, BUT DON'T WANT TO BUY A WHOLE NEW BED; SEW A SLIPCOVER FOR IT OR FOR A NO SEW METHOD, GLUE, STAPLE OR DUCT TAPE IT INTO PLACE!
*INSTEAD OF SHOWER CURTAIN RINGS, USE RIBBON ,TWINE, OR RAFFIA, TO TIE ON SHOWER CURTAIN, DEPENDING ON YOUR BATHROOMS' DECORATING SCHEME.
* USE LARGE SCALE OBJECTS AS ART SUCH AS A PAIR OF ORNATE DOORS OR
SHUTTERS. HANG THEM ON A STAIR WALL AS IT WILL BRING TEXTURE AND CHARACTER TO AN OTHERWISE BLANK SPACE.
* EMPHASIZE HEIGHT BY CROWNING A CUPBOARD WITH A FEW OBJECTS THAT WILL CARRY THE EYE TO THE CEILING.
* BREAK UP THE SPACE ABOVE A WINDOW WITH PLATTERS OR ANYTHING THAT WILL DRAW THE EYE UPWARD AND GIVE A SENSE OF SPACE.
* UNITE CONNECTING ROOMS WITH THE SAME FLOORING MATERIAL. THIS WILL GIVE THE IMPRESSION OF SMOOTH FLOWING ROOMS.
* DON'T DISREGARD INHERITED OR PURCHASED FURNITURE BECAUSE OF DATED OR WORN UPHOLSTERY; YOU CAN RECOVER THE PIECES TO GIVE THEM NEW LIFE IN YOUR HOME.
* WHITE AS A COLOR IS ACTUALLY A PALE RAINBOW OF SHADES AND TINTS. SOMETIMES CHOOSING THE RIGHT SHADE OF WHITE CAN BE A COMPLEX ORDEAL. FOR An INVITING LOOK, PICK A YELLOW TINTED HUE. YELLOW GIVES A PATINA TO WHITE. CHOOSING A BLUE OR GRAY TINT CASTS A COOL LOOK.
* A SMALL CHAIR FEELS COZIER WITH A THICK SEAT CUSHION.
* KEEPING LOW PROFILE FURNISHINGS IS A SURE WAY OF GIVING A ROOM A MORE AIRY MOOD.
* PAINT YOU HOME IN VIOLETS, BLUES OR GREENS. COOL COLORS MAKE A ROOM APPEAR FARTHER AWAY, CREATING THE ILLUSION OF LARGER ROOM.
AND LASTLY, "DREAM" FOR THAT IS WHERE GOOD DECORATING COMES FROM :)
