ADDING VINTAGE CHARM

* ADD RETRO KNOBS AND DRAWER PULLS
* KEEP THE SIZES OF THE ROOMS ORIGINAL; SMALL ROOMS ADDS TO THE CHARM REMINISCENT OF OLD HOMES
* USE SMALL OR OCTAGONAL TILE INSTEAD OF A SOLID SURFACE OF LAMINATE
* CHOOSE VINTAGE COLORS SUCH AS PINKS, GREENS AND GRAYS. * INSTALL AN OLD LOOKING SINK FOR A FARMHOUSE LOOK.
* WHEN ADDING NEW WINDOWS, BUY SMALLER PANE ONES TO REFLECT THE AMBIENCE OF AN OLD HOME.
* TO REPLICATE THE LOOK OF OLD CUPBOARDS, USE DIFFERENT TYPES SUCH AS GLASS DOORS AND SOME WITHOUT DOORS.
* ADD TRIM AND BRACKETS TO DOORWAYS AND CUPBOARDS.
* ADD PERSONALITY AND COLLECTIBLES THAT ARE WITHIN KEEPING OF YOUR HOMES ERA.

TO CREATE A SOOTHING RETREAT LIKE ATMOSPHERE, SOFT PASTEL HUES ARE TRADITIONAL BEDROOM COLORS, BUT THEY CAN MAKE A ROOM FEEL COLD. MIX WARM SHADES OF RED AND ORANGE WITH WICKER ACCENTS. THIS IS ALSO A GOOD IDEA FOR A SUNROOM.
* TO MAKE YOUR CUPBOARD DOORS LOOK OLDER, LEAVE THE HARDWARE IN PLACE WHEN YOU PAINT THEM AND IT WILL LOOK LIKE YEARS OF BUILT UP PAINT.
* BY PAINTING WALLS AND CEILINGS NEUTRAL AND GOING WITH FURNITURE, RUGS, PILLOWS, FLOWERS AND TABLETOP ACCESSORIES IN BRIGHTER COLORS, YOU CAN SWITCH OUT COLORS EASIER THAN BUYING NEW FURNITURE.
* BY USING AS FEW LARGE FURNITURE PIECES AS POSSIBLE, WILL CREATE VISUAL SPACE, BUT WHEN LOOKING FOR FURNITURE CHOOSE ONES WITH INTERESTING SHAPES.
* USE NATURAL LIGHT IF YOUR WINDOWS ARE CHARMING THEN YOU CAN GO FROM USING NOTHING AT ALL TO BAMBOO BLINDS.
* A HOUSE WITHOUT CLUTTER LOOKS AND FEELS LIGHTER. IF YOU HAVEN'T USED SOMETHING FOR A YEAR AND IT HAS NO SENTIMENTAL VALUE, SELL IT OR THROW IT AWAY.
* RESIST BUYING FURNITURE FROM ONE PERIOD, OR YOUR ROOM WILL APPEAR STORE BOUGHT. MIXING PIECES WILL GIVE THE ROOM A SENSE OF YOUR STYLE BY PUTTING IN PIECES THAT REFLECT YOUR TASTE.
* USE FURNITURE WHERE YOU NEED IT, NOT WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE.
* SPLURGE ON ONE GREAT PIECE FOR EACH ROOM AND PLAY UP THE NOT SO VALUABLE PIECES.
* THE SPARKLE OF METALLIC ACCENTS, BRIGHT OR ANTIQUED, GIVES A HIGHER STYLE TO A CLASSIC COUNTRY INTERIOR.
* CREATE A TABLE FOR A FOYER BY ATTACHING TWO DECORATIVE BRACKETS TO THE WALL AND TOPPING THEM WITH A PIECE OF GLASS.
* RUN A ROD THROUGH THE HEM OF A PRETTY PAIR 0 FLAT SHEETS, THEN USE TIEBACKS TO ADJUST THE LENGTH.
* A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS: QUILTS- YELLOW W ARE- HOOKED RUGS-
PILLOWS- BASKETS - WOODEN BOWLS- LINENS- FLEA MARKETS THOUGHT YOU
MIGHT WANT TO KNOW!
